Barbadelo
Barbadelo is the larger place of municipality of Sarria and
perhaps the best known of all, it
is named in the Codex Calixtinus in the twelfth century as
passage of pilgrims to Santiago and
the place where came roosting from Compostela to offer
pilgrims hostel.

In
Mosterio is the famous Romanesque church of Barbadelo and
beside is the hostel of Barbadelo (Xunta de Galicia)
The Barbadelo Church was an ancient
monastery and hospital of pilgrims, it is beside the Camino de
Santiago, its history can be considered parallel to the
pilgrimages to Compostela and is considered one of the jewels
of the Romanesque Road, is a National Monument since 1976 .
Vilei-Barbadelo
This is the place with more houses in the path of the Camino de
Santiago between Sarria and Portomarín.
It is a collection of traditional houses cut by the main road
(Camino de Santiago) forming a beautiful rural set.
The natural environment is composed of indigenous trees, as most
oaks and chestnuts, with meadows and fields.
It is very important the Carballeira( oakwood) of As Paredes,
with large Neolithic Castro de "As
Paredes" (Iron Age) occupation is without digging with
dimensions of 156 mtos major axis and the minor axis of 115 mtos.
It is a perfect place for those
seek tranquility,
rest and contact
